What is an Integrative Healing Session?
Your Initial Session will be the longest. I allow for up to 2 hours for the first session, because it is an information gathering session as well as a healing session. It allows your animal and I to get to know each other, remember, I am a stranger in their home. We talk about the lifestyle of both your animal and yourself. This gives me a foundation to build on. After the information gathering, I will start the session by connecting with your animal. During the session, I will use hands on palpation to feel for any changes in the body and from that, choose the direction that will best address the imbalance and concern.
After the Initial Healing Session, we will do 2 follow ups within 2-4 days of each other to observe how your companion animal has adjusted from the session. The follow up sessions are 40 minutes to an hour. We will discuss any recommendations at the end of each session.
During sessions, I may suggest using flower essences for Floral Acupressure; Reiki; Massage; Aromatherapy; Photonic Light Therapy; Chromotherapy (Color Light Therapy) or Crystal Healing with the acupressure, if appropriate.
This healing alternative can profoundly impact both you and your animal companion in so many ways. Animals are highly receptive to these techniques.
This is not a substitute for veterinary medicine or chiropractic treatments.
Please read the brief descriptions below for further information...
What is Reiki? Reiki is written in the form of 2 kanji (Japanese Characters). Rei which means "universal or spirit", and Ki which means "life force energy". Brought together it translates to "universal life force energy". It is a healing energy brought down and through a Reiki facilitator to the person, animal or Earth. It has its own direction on where the living being needs healing and it goes there, whether it is physical, mental, emotional or spiritual healing. It has no religion or belief system attached to it.
Reiki is gentle and non-invasive. It can either be given by the hands-on approach or off body, even at a distance. Reiki has a calming and relaxing effect, it is balance through change, healing on all levels.
Chromotherapy (Color Light Therapy)
Color is brought to us by frequencies, vibrations and energy carried down by sunlight. In order to live a well-balanced life, we need to eat properly, exercise, keep hydrated and breathe fresh air. Sunlight also balances us by shining colors through its spectrum of light. Not only are we absorbing healing colors into our bodies, but we are providing vitamins such as D too.
Color Light Therapy is a great way to support alternative and integrative therapies by applying color to acupressure points, muscles during massage, and even enhances aromatherapy & Reiki sessions. Chromotherapy brings the full spectrum of colors back into our subtle bodies, our aura, our chakras. It supports all stages of life, pre & post exercise and most important it assists the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Aromatherapy is the application or inhalation of essential oils. Essential oils are distilled plant materials such as flowers, stems and/or leaves, to produce a pure oil that its vibration matches what imbalance is going on in the animal or person. It travels via the airways through inhalation and is absorb by the limbic system, (part of the brain located in the front of the head in the nasal passage ways). Through there, it penetrates the blood/brain barrier and balances the body, regenerates or replenishes the cells and corrects what needs to be corrected.
The essential oil or blend is mostly chosen by the animal. A selection of 4 appropriate oils are taken out for the animal to sniff and then they will chose it. Depending on the oil, it may be applied diluted directly, put into a diffuser or a vita-flex application technique may be applied. The session is totally up to the animal. If the animal just takes a sniff, that may be all that is needed for the session. I honor the choice of the animal, after all, it is their session.
Bach Flower & Flower Essences
Flower Essences are liquid infusions of flowers and plants, used to heal emotional, mental, spiritual and sometimes physical issues affecting the animal. These are most commonly the underlying causes for the imbalance that leads to behavioral or physical issues and changes. Flower essences are gentle and safe, they do not contradict any medicine or medical procedure. Flower Essences can be taken while on veterinary prescription medicine, but always check with your veterinarian.
The flower essences are chosen according to the imbalance present. They can relieve anxiety, restore energy and vitality, aging issues, recovery from illness, past trauma or abuse and can bring clarity and mental focus during training.
Flower Essences used are Bach Flowers, Alaskan Flower Essences, and Findhorn Flower Essences.
With all the varieties, brands and choices of dog & cat food out there, it is hard to know what diet suits your animals needs and nutritional requirements. We help sort out the pros and cons of your animals health and find the right choice that will keep him healthy and enhance their well being.
If your Veterinarian has diagnosed an allergy, we can sort through choices that would be appropriate for your dog. Also we'll go over allergy vs. sensitivity and what is the difference.
This is a comprehensive evaluation of your animal's health concerns, lifestyle and activities.
Training & Behavior
Training is done in the comfort of your home, with "field trips" to many different areas to socialize your dog with the outside world. I work differently than most trainers, I believe in educating your dog in the human language, breaking down the exercises and establishing cues for you and your dog to learn. There is homework each week, which includes a log sheet of what you have done. It is checked off by me after it is accomplished.
With a training session, you are given the tools, cues and awareness to help your dog become a great dog. Educational Training not only structures well behaved dogs, but also strengthens the bond between you both, as well as teamwork.
Crystals have been used in healing since ancient times and continue to be used today. The use of crystals, can be incorporated with a Reiki or Acupressure Session. They may be placed around the animal, under a blanket, in a pouch by the halter, under the saddle, in the stall, or may be infused in water as a liquid essence. Some crystal essences may be made into a mister/spray to be spritzed in the air around the animal. Depending on the concern or issue, the use will be decided during the session.
Tui Na Massage
Tui Na is a form of Chinese Meridian Massage. Meridians and acupressure points are stimulated and activated to address certain pain points, circulation problems, movement of lymph and releasing of natural endorphins and cortisones. This assists the animal in regaining movement, flexibility, pain management and faster healing time.
This is used with an acupressure & massage sessions, along with TTouch techniques.
Transition Session and Goodbye Ceremony
We open our hearts and share this wonderful life with our animal companions. Part of this journey is also knowing when the journey is nearing the end. When the time arrives to make the difficult decisions, all of the services are combined to assist the animal before the euthanasia or for another choice.
Transition Sessions are in the home, spiritual and releasing essential oils are diffused, acupressure points are chosen to assist the animal in relaxing, calming and peaceful feelings.
Goodbye Ceremony is to aid the family and friends in the passing, before or after. It is a beautiful way to say goodbye and also the hardest. The ceremony is customized to what your companion would like. If the weather is permitting, we set up a ceremonial circle outside on a blanket. Special flowers, plants or herbs, that hold significance to the ceremony, are placed within the circle. A special essential oil anointing oil is created in the space, special smudging material is also placed. Any mementos, pictures, toys, leashes or anything dear to the animal is placed within the circle. When everything is complete, the guests come to the circle and the companion is brought in the middle. Everyone is smudged, talks about the companion and the animal is brushed with the essential oil blend. At the end, there is a moment of silence, this is the time to connect and give gratitude to them for their love and wisdom they have shared. If you would like your vet present at this time, you may. The circle is opened and then the final goodbye is said.
Transition Session and Goodbye Ceremony are usually within a day of each other. This helps the animal adjust and transition peacefully. Transition Session is 45 minutes; Goodbye Ceremony can be up to 5 hours.
Acupressure is an ancient healing technique that is similar to acupuncture, but without the needles. It is based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine that is non-invasive and uses gentle touch to activate and stimulate numerous acupressure points. Acupressure can enhance an animal's comfort, emotional stability, and general wellness. With this over 3,000 year old technique, chronic or acute ailments and pain management can be addressed, as well as other benefits such as:
